Silicon Valley Leadership Group

Earned Media & Media Relations

Challenge

The Silicon Valley Leadership Group requested a focused media strategy to raise the profile of the organization particularly with major local television outlets and increase national exposure through carry-through articles and national interviews with major television programs as well as position staff as thought leaders and advocates for the innovation economy and the quality of life for those who live in the Bay Area

Tactics

The MarComm team positioned Carl Guardino, President and CEO of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group as the go-to expert on various housing, innovation, policy and transportation matters important to the Bay Area by improving relationships with television and radio reporters and assignment desk staff, responding in a reliable and timely fashion to deadlines and improving the quality of press releases, media advisories and informed interactions with media staff through phone calls, topical emails and planning annual roundtables with local press. We also positioned policy area experts as knowledgeable and informed interviewees and background experts for journalists while educating the media and target audiences about campaigns and legislation including: AB & SB 75, Measure AA, Measure B, RM3, Prop 1 & 2, AB 5 and many others.

Beyond expert commentary, the team worked to gain media attendance to Leadership Group events, coverage of activities and achievements as well as supported campaigns through press conference planning and support as needed.
